Costa Crociere social accountability policy
Costa Crociere wants to confirm the importance of creating a work environment that is socially responsible and that favours the professional growth of all employees, in compliance with local and international laws and human rights.
It is Costa Crociere will that the principles of social accountability are applied by all its Italian and international suppliers involved in the supply chain of the service, which represents the object of its activities.
For this purpose, both the internal work environment and the supply chain must guarantee the respect of the following requirements:

BASIC WORKING CONDITIONS
Respect for the freedom and dignity of employees.

CHILD LABOUR AND JUVENILE WORKERS Conventions 138 - 183 -
ILO 146 Regulations.

The use of child labour and juvenile workers in production cycles is forbidden.

COERCED LABOUR – ILO Convention 29 – Convention 105
The use of forced or coerced labour is forbidden. Employing personnel against their will and making use of any kind of labour under threat of punishment is forbidden.

HEALTH AND SAFETY OF WORKERS Conventions 155 – ILO 146 Regulation.
The right to health and safety in the workplace is guaranteed. Costa Crociere provides a safe and healthy workplace, especially in regard to careful assessment and management of risks, and also runs an adequate training programme. Costa Crociere has drawn up procedures for managing emergencies that may arise both shoreside and on board. Costa Crociere has appointed Health and Safety Representatives. In recognition of its commitment to safety in the workplace, Costa Crociere is in the process of certifying its safety management system, as per the international OHSAS 18001 standard.

FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION – ILO Convention 87 – Convention 98
Respect of the right to trade union freedom and collective bargaining.

WORKING HOURS AND REMUNERATION
The right to an appropriate remuneration and correct working hours is guaranteed.
Costa Crociere guarantees payment of the salary as per the current legislation, making sure that it is sufficient to guarantee a respectable standard for living for the entire family.
The working hours are not to exceed the time indicated in the labour contracts and in the agreements reached with trade unions.


EQUAL SALARIES AND DISCRIMINATION – ILO Conventions 100 – 111 – 177.
The right to equal pay to men and women for doing the same job is guaranteed.
The right to equal opportunities must also be respected, at the time of employment or resignation and in case of promotion or training.
Any form of discrimination is forbidden, including exclusion or preference based on race, gender, age, religion, political opinion, nationality, or social status.


SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
In terms of Monitoring and continuous Improvement Costa Crociere commits to:
- Define and constantly update the “Social Accountability Policy” and to apply all the requirements of the SA 8000 standard, as well as all Italian and international regulations.
- Provide clear, documented definitions of roles, responsibility, and authority of its personnel.
- Periodically audit the efficiency of this System and take any corrective or preventive necessary actions for continuous improvement.
- Document performance in relation to all the requirements of the standard, by means of appropriate records and communicating the results both in-house and to other social parties involved.
- Ensure that all personnel receive adequate training on the requirement of the standard, and that a system is set up for monitoring the efficiency of our SA 8000 System.
- Select and evaluate suppliers on the basis of their capacity to meet the requirements of the standard
- Plan and implement adequate corrective action when any non-conformity is identified.

In order to ensure that this Policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels of the Company and by all those working with the Company, the Top Management has put into practice the following initiatives:

- Implementation of an Integrated Quality, Safety, Environmental, and Ethical System (QSAE) that conforms to the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000, OHSAS 18001:1999, ISO 14001:1996, and SA 8000:2001 standards respectively, with the primary objective of continuously improving the Company’s performance.
- Providing a copy of this Policy for perusal by all personnel both on shore and on board.
- Meetings between the Company’s Top Management, the QSAE Manager, and Personnel.
- QSAE training for personnel.
- Providing information to stakeholders about the declaration;

Costa Crociere also wishes to highlight the importance of its personnel, who plays a key role in the continuous improvement in terms of the quality of its objectives, by providing tools and ideas to reach them.

All of the above is in accordance with the guiding principle of the Company policy, that is: "The quality of the service received by the client depends almost exclusively on the human factor, and not merely on the logic behind the products and technologies used".
