What is included with an Air/Sea package?
Costa Cruise Lines N.V. (“CCL”) may arrange air travel in connection with your cruise holiday as a convenience to Guests. An Air/Sea package includes round-trip airfare from your gateway city to an airport near the departure port. Unaccompanied minors cannot be accommodated. Flights are subject to availability and tickets are not transferable. Different fares for Air/Sea packages may apply to groups, back-to-back cruises and selected dates. Prices are subject to change before receipt of final payment.
Air/Sea package fares do not include government taxes and fees on cruise travel from $6.20 to $110.89 or optional hotel accommodation or transfers, but include all governmental taxes and fees on air travel and the cruise fuel supplement, if any. Airline imposed baggage fees of up to $50.00 for the first or second standard size bag may also apply; please consult with the airline for information once ticketed.
Please see our General Conditions for additional terms and conditions that apply to your Air/Sea package, including cancellation charges and airline-imposed change fees.
May I request specific airlines, flights, or arrange for an overnight stop in a city?
Yes. Requests for air deviations are handled through CCL’s Deviation Desk. Guests requesting air deviations into or out of their embarkation or disembarkation port must submit inquiries via email to deviation@us.costa.it or fax to (954) 266-5817. Subject to availability, CCL’s Deviation Desk will assist with specific airline selections, date changes or airline class of service upgrades. The Deviation Desk will be pleased to handle requests for Guests whose cruise is under deposit and whose air schedule has not been confirmed or ticketed for a non-refundable service fee of US$75.00 per Guest per request. Guests must pay for any additional charges resulting from the air deviation, including any cancellation charges or change fees. Air deviations may result in loss of transfers and/or hotel if applicable.
Which airlines does CCL use?
CCL reserves the right to use any air carrier from each gateway city, including commuter and charter carriers. Flight schedules and routings may require stops, change of planes, and/or overnight layover. In limited cases, air schedules cannot be finalized earlier than 2 to 4 weeks prior to departure. Due to availability for peak travel dates, off-peak air schedules, charters and overnights may be assigned. Alternate airports near the embarkation or disembarkation port may be used.
What if I am going with a group?
Group air space for 10 or more Guests is subject to restrictions and is limited to certain gateway cities. CCL makes every effort to confirm the group on the same flight itinerary but may not be able to accommodate requests for flights for groups or Guests traveling together on the same flight itinerary. New additions added to the group at a later date may not have the same itinerary.
Are my airline seats pre-assigned?
CCL cannot confirm specific seat assignment requests, and in some cases may not be able to accommodate any seat assignment request or other special meals or services. Your travel agent may assist with these arrangements. Some airlines and charter flights may not offer advance seating selection which must be done at the airport at time of check-in.
If my flight itinerary requires an overnight hotel stay, is this provided?
Due to airline schedules, overnight hotel accommodations at the Guest’s expense may be necessary in connection with some Air/Sea packages. Guests may select a hotel offered by Costa at additional charge or may make their own arrangements. CCL will inform you of additional charges for hotel and transfer at the time of booking.
Limitation of Liability regarding Airlines and Travel Suppliers
Even if airline tickets are issued by CCL, CCL shall have no liability for any acts or omissions of any airline, including without limitation those involving cancellation of flights, schedule changes, re-routings, damage to or delay or loss of baggage, flight delays, equipment failures, accidents, pilot or other staff shortages, overbooking or computer errors, strike, acts of war, labor unrest, acts of God or any other act. The airline’s liability to you and your rights as an airline passenger are subject to the terms and conditions of the airline’s contract of carriage, ticket and tariffs.
Without limiting the foregoing, CCL acts solely as an intermediary in facilitating the reservation and booking of travel products and services provided by airlines, hotels or other travel service providers (collectively, "Travel Suppliers"). CCL may receive compensation for arranging such services. CCL does not control or supervise any Travel Supplier and shall not be responsible for any event beyond its control. CCL shall have no liability for (i) any injury, damage, death, loss, accident or delay due to any fault, act of negligence, omission or default of a Travel Supplier, (ii) any damage and/or delay due to sickness, pilferage, labor disputes, machinery breakdown, quarantine, government restraints, weather, acts of God, or other causes, or (iii) any additional expense, omissions, delays, re-routing or acts of any governmental authority or entity other than CCL. The contract of carriage or other terms and conditions in use by a Travel Supplier shall govern the relationship between the Travel Supplier and the Guest.
Changes in Overnight Hotel and Airline Ticketing
Please see our Terms and Conditions for information about the Air/Sea cancellation policy and additional terms and conditions that apply to your cruise.
All original airline tickets must be returned to CCL prior to a replacement ticket being issued. The Guests shall pay for any replacement airline ticket issued before the original ticket is returned. If the original airline ticket is not returned, CCL will file a Lost Ticket Application with the airline, the airline's applicable lost ticket charges will apply and CCL shall deduct such charge from the refund.
If due to any cause beyond its control, CCL is unable to arrange the necessary overnight hotel accommodations or air travel (including, for example, capacity controls placed on CCL by airlines or hotels due to the types of fares under which CCL books) or the overnight hotel accommodations and/or air travel arranged by CCL is unavailable or otherwise fails to materialize, CCL’s sole liability shall be limited to refunding the amount paid to CCL for the air portion of the Air/Sea package and/or hotel accommodation.
