Excursion 'KEY WEST BUTTERFLY CONSERVATORY AND AQUARIUM'

Description

After a short air-conditioned bus ride from the cruise ship dock you will be dropped off in front of the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. The Conservatory houses a warm, humid and inviting environment that is a paradise for tropical plants and butterflies. Inside, you will find an impressive collection of flowering plants, cascading waterfalls and trees that set the stage for the real stars, the butterflies. You will witness hundreds of butterflies, representing some 50 to 60 different species from North, Central and South America, Africa and Southeast Asia, all under a 5,000 sq. ft. state of the art, climate controlled greenhouse. At the end of your tour you will be transported to Mallory Square and the Key West Aquarium by air-conditioned bus. It is home to hundreds of different species of local sea-life and includes a touch tank where children of all ages are encouraged to enjoy a hands on experience with the local Florida Keys sea-life. The Aquarium is also home to a wide variety of fish including grouper, moray eels, barracuda, tropical fish, tarpon, sharks, parrotfish and much, much more. These important and ecologically diverse areas are an integral part of the Florida Keys.
