Excursion 'THE CAPITAL OF BRUSSEL'

Description

After a drive from Zeebrugge to Brussels on the Belgian highway you arrive at Belgium's capital Brussels. Your panoramic drive will pass you by the King Boudewijn Stadium (Belgium' national sport stadium) and the Centenaire (exhibition halls built to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Belgium) to hold at the Atomium statue for a photo stop. The Atomium statue was built for the world fair in Brussels in 1958 and represents an iron molecule. Then your coach will lead you to the center of the city passing the Chinese pavilion, the Japanese Tower and the Royal Castle of Laeken (the residence of our King Albert and Queen Paola).

Your walking tour will start near the Central Station where you walk through the old Town area to admire first the St Hubert Arcades and its Arcade of shops and the Butchers' Street with its plethora of restaurants and cafes. A few blocks away from the Butcher's street, you will be astonished by the beauty of the Grand Place. With it's Baroque guild houses and Town Hall, the Brussels Grand Place is often called the most beautiful market square in the World. A few blocks further, you 'll meet "Manneken Pis" Brussels best known little boy. You will have some free time around the Grand place to search for your perfect Belgian souvenir (Belgian chocolates, lace, tapestries...) or sit down at a café and enjoy one of the many kinds of beers Belgium produces. After a short walk back to the coach, your coach will pass you by the Royal Palace, the European Parliament and the Cinquantenaire (Arcade made to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Belgium) and the Koekelberg Basilica to drive back to Zeebrugge by highway.
