DISCOVERING BERLIN

What we will do

Upon arrival in Germany’s capital, your tour starts with a photo stop at Charlottenburg Castle, former home of Frederick the Great – Prussia’s most legendary king. Driving by the famous Victory Column, the Bellevue Palace, Tiergarten Park, Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag building (German parliament). See the architectural highlight the Potsdam Square. Continue on to Berlin’s East side. See the city where the separation started - pass the Eastside Gallery and take a one of its kind picture of the only remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall. On your way to Kurfurstendamm you will see the Emperor William Memorial Church and the Europa Center. Here you will have the opportunity to browse the shops or visit the KaDeWe, Berlin’s famous department store on your own. Continue on to Checkpoint Charlie – the former border crossing between East and West. Continue with other highlights of former East Berlin including the Bebelplatz - in 1933 the Nazi party held it’s infamous book burning there, Museum Island, the New Synagogue in the heart of the Jewish quarter, Alexanderplatz Square and the famous Red City Hall before heading back to Hamburg.

Before returning to the ship, you will have a chance to sample the wonderful atmosphere on the famous Kurfurstendamm, where you can just browse for souvenirs or enjoy a coffee break.
