What we will do
  • Our first stop is Cambridge, the university city, with its tranquil, rural setting. Along these winding roads are ancient houses and shops, as well as colleges and churches that date back even further.

  • The next stop on our tour is St. John's College, which was established in 1511 by Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of King Henry VII. The building recalls the Venetian landscape with its very own Bridge of Sighs, which spans the river Cam and links the college to the green fields behind – known as The Backs.

  • Leaving Cambridge, we make our way through the wonderful Suffolk countryside to reach Bury St Edmunds, an ancient city that boasts a small monastery, the Bury St Edmunds Abbey, in which lie the remains of Saxon King Edmund, who died a martyr in 870 AD. We visit the ruins of the abbey, which also include a Norman tower and 14th-century gate inside the garden.

  • Lastly we have some free time in which to go shopping and walk through the city streets.
