Excursion 'EXPLORING BREMEN'

Description

A tour exploring Bremen in total freedom, the old Hanseatic city with a glorious maritime past, that offers us wonderful peeks into its history, with its Gothic buildings, typical examples of Northern European architecture and views over the river that made it such an important seafaring city, even though it lies inland. Its more modern side, with great shops and cafés, will be the proverbial icing on the cake.

What we will see
  • Panoramic tour inland Bremen's old city centre.
  • Gothic town hall and Statue of Roland.
  • The Town Musicians of Bremen Monument.
  • Shopping and cafés.

What we will do
  • We'll leave the quay behind and set off on an exciting panoramic tour inland towards Bremen, an old city sitting on the banks of the Weser River that splits the built-up area in two and that over the centuries made Bremen the ideal port city, conveniently connecting it with the North Sea.
  • When we reach the city centre, we'll have two hours to explore the beautiful squares and picturesque streets of historic Bremen, with its majestic buildings, art galleries and all kinds of shops.
  • The morning is free for us to plan our own itinerary. The spectacular Gothic Town Hall in Marktplatz, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, together with its neighbour the Statue Of Roland, the oldest and largest monument of its kind in Germany.
  • The bronze statue of animals from the Grimm brothers fairytale "Town Musicians of Bremen", created in 1951 by the artist Gerhard Marcks will take us back to our childhood and enchant adults and children alike.
  • The souvenir shops are the perfect place to buy something to remind you of this splendid city or a special gift for friends and relatives. There are plenty of cafés and snack bars for us to take a well-earned break before boarding the coach that will take us back to the ship.
